Find out how long it takes for moving companies to deliver your belongings.
How Long Will It Take For My Items To Be Delivered? The time it takes for your items to be delivered will depend on: distance, time of year and the company that will be transporting your belongings. DistanceDelivery time frames will depend on the distance of your move. A local move may only take a few hours, depending on its size. A move that is further away, even within the same state, could take a few days. If you are moving your items long distance, expect a longer delivery time frame. From the most eastern – western point of the USA the distance is almost 3000 miles. That’s a lot of ground to cover. If you are transporting your belongings internationally, delivery times vary dependent on where you’re relocating. By sea it will range between 4 – 12 weeks worldwide. If shipping by air, 8 – 10 days. Time Of YearThe busiest season for a moving company is late spring and summer. If you will be moving during this time, be prepared to expect your delivery to arrive closer to the end of the delivery window provided by your moving company. During the winter, off-peak, your belongings may arrive in a shorter time frame. The Moving CompanyOnce you have decided on a moving company, make sure that you are aware of their delivery time frame. Compare the estimate you received with the bill of lading, to ensure they both state the same information for the service dates; these dates let you know when your belongings will be delivered. Some companies may not provide a clear time frame, and may give a 30-day window. Standard delivery for long distance moves is between 1 – 2 weeks. Be wary of companies that promise to deliver your items in a short period of time. Legally, drivers can only operate their truck for a maximum amount of hours per day and can usually drive approximately 400 -500 miles during these hours. Additional Considerations That Influence Delivery Of Your Items
DelaysIn the event that your items will be delayed, it is the responsibility of the moving company to contact you and inform you of the situation, what will be done and to keep you updated. The moving company may be obligated to compensate you for any time that you were without your belongings. Something’s, such as weather or road conditions are beyond our control, even beyond the control of any moving company. Communication with your moving company during this delivery phase is important. Be in contact with them regularly to keep up to date with the status of your shipment and to coordinate delivery when the time arrives. Now that you have an idea of delivery time frames, the big question... "Where to stay until your things arrive"? Where would you prefer to be without the comfort of your personal belongings? |
